Kevin Flynn, who runs a video game arcade, is a leading software engineer and video game developer, formerly employed by large technology corporation ENCOM. Flynn finds himself digitised and abducted inside the software virtual reality cyberspace world of ENCOM's mainframe computer where he is forced to participate in gladiatorial games. His only chance of escape is with the help of a heroic security program.

A film that predicted the technology of the future.
In 1982, very few people had computers, yet Steven Lisberger managed to show the world about digital identity, artificial intelligence, personal data, and confidentiality. The movie had touch-screens, online avatars, and even the metaverse. TRON was so ahead of it's time that many people ended up dismissing the movie. In the year it was released, the Motion Picture Academy refused to nominate Tron for a special-effects Oscar award because, as director Steven Lisberger puts it, "The Academy thought we cheated by using computers."
