French referee Johan Hamel tragically died on Wednesday after suffering a stroke in training on Tuesday.

Hamel, 42, was a veteran of over 130 games in the French top-flight, and made his Champions League debut as a fourth official a fortnight ago in Celtic's defeat away to Real Madrid in the final round of group stage fixtures.

His final game came on November 6, when he overaw Lille's Ligue 1 clash with Rennes, before taking on fourth official duties in PSG's meeting with Auxerre on Sunday, November 13.

With more than 300 professional games to his name as a referee, Hamel's shock passing comes after he suffered a stroke whilst undergoing routine exercises in training.

Rai-Lèyah Parveen Saddique, 10, was rushed to Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, after suddenly collapsing at school last Wednesday.
She was later transferred to Leeds General Infirmary but was pronounced dead on Monday morning.
Doctors believe Rai-Lèyah suffered a brain hemorrhage but had been previously described as a fit and healthy girl, Yorkshire Live reports.

Uni student, 20, dies suddenly after feeling unwell at Halloween party.

A university student has unexpectedly died after falling ill at a Halloween party. Daniel Duyungan has been labelled a "gentle soul" by his family, as they paid tribute to him.
Following the news, of Daniel's death, his life-long friend Aby Bartolome, set up a GoFundMe page to help support the grief-stricken family with the funeral costs. The page has raised £10,875 at the time of writing, with almost 500 donations.
His mother Linda said "He was just too good to stay in this world, and heaven called him early."

Four-time British Superbike champion Keith Farmer has died suddenly aged just 35. Farmer announced himself as one of the very best in the Superbike arena, having won the Superstock 600 title and National Superstock 1000cc in 2011, 2012 and 2018.
His sudden and tragic death was confirmed on Thursday, in a statement on Facebook from his brother, David. He wrote: "I’m lost for words our little brother left us at 1.45 this morning with us all by his side.
"Life will never be the same again, he made us all so proud and he will be very sorely missed.

Tributes have poured in for a young Cirencester Town Ladies footballer who has tragically died.

Goalkeeper Carla Heaton, aged just 22, passed away suddenly, with the heart-breaking news confirmed by the club online. Carla was described as a 'beautiful person inside and out' by her team in a statement on Twitter.

Heaton had spent several seasons with fourth tier Swindon Town before moving onto Cirencester Town. Since the news broke fans of the team, as well as a number of other women's football teams, have responded with heartfelt tributes to the much loved player.

Posting in a statement on Twitter, Cirencester Town Ladies said: "It is with great sadness to say our goalkeeper Carla Heaton has suddenly passed away.
