The French government are attempting to get back on the side of the people now as they know people are right on the edge. Things are going to kick off hard soon here. Most French have already outright refused the vaccine before its rollout. Thats why Macron hasn't started another lockdown yet. You can feel it here, it is in a pre-revolution state and no-one does revolution like the French.
UK, Germany and many other European countries are in lockdown but Macron is terrified to do the same again now. That is not to say that the psychopath wont but he sure knows that there will be consequences the next time. Most restaurants and cafes will never re-open here and they are the life blood of French life. No more kissing and hugging which is another very French thing. The French have already lost too much of their way of life and they have just about had enough now. Viva la revolution!
Don't get me wrong, there are still plenty of mask wearing NPC's around but more people are waking up to this hoax.

Making even taking pictures or filming of police an illegal and an arrestable offense. Even if they are brutally beating someone, it is illegal to film them doing it.
