"To Babylon you must go and there you will be rescued; there God will ransom you out of the power of your enemies." (Micah 4:10)
Mel Gibson seems to be enjoying himself as a seemingly crazy and paranoid citizen in this thriller from director Richard Donner. In this scene he settles down in his very particular apartment to go through the day's newspapers and send out his titular newsletter.
The film is an odd mix of humour and occasional horror, but Carter Burwell graced key moments like this with a wonderful jazzy main theme to keep things moving along.
Starring Mel Gibson, Julia Roberts and Patrick Stewart. Directed by Richard Donner (of Superman, Lethal Weapon and Goonies fame) and written by Brian Helgeland. Music by Carter Burwell. The track on the soundtrack album is titled 'Conspiracy Theory'.

The only thing that burns in hell is the part of you that won't let go
Louie:
"How did you get your doctorate without reading Eckhart? Relax... Ok, good. Now turn over gently--right side. The other right, ok? You're a regular basket case, you know that?
Eckhart saw hell, too... You know what he said? He said, the only thing that burns in hell is the part of you that won't let go of your life--your memories, your attachments. They burn them all away. But they're not punishing you, he said. They're freeing your soul. Relax... Good.
So the way he sees it... if you're frightened of dying and you're holding on... you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels freeing you from the earth. It's just a matter of how you look at it, that's all. So don't worry, ok? Ok? Good... Relax... Relax... Relax...""
